Killed in Kharkiv Oblast. Remembering scout Markiyan Dorosh.
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Markiyan Dorosh.
On July 24, 2024, during the execution of a combat mission near the village of Synkivka in the Petropavlivska rural community of the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv Oblast, a 23-year-old serviceman, a scout of the 116th separate mechanized brigade of the 10th Army Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Markiyan Dorosh (Markus), died. This was reported by the head of the Krai Plast Council, Yurii Yuzych.
Markiyan Dorosh was born on July 23, 2001, in Lviv. He studied at Lviv State Communal Secondary General Education School No. 3. During his studies, he was actively involved in sports, particularly Aikido, Karate, and sports gymnastics. He was also a member of the «Plast» organization in Lviv, with the Plast pseudonym Kremen.
He graduated from the State Educational Institution «Stavropigiyske Higher Vocational School of Lviv», with a profession as an offset flat printing pressman of the third rank and a bookbinder of the third rank. He was also part of several nationalist organizations such as the «Civil Corps» and «Right Youth». As an ultra fan of the fan movement, he supported FC «Karpaty».
After completing his studies, he worked as a bartender in the restaurant sector of Lviv. He successfully completed the basic bartender course from Diageo Bar Academy.
With the start of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the state from Russian invaders. Initially, he served in the 10th rifle battalion, where he performed combat missions in Sumy Oblast.
During the latest period, he defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as a scout in the 116th separate mechanized brigade of the 10th Army Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he received the call sign Markus.
During his service, he successfully completed a fighter-rescuer course and a basic UAV management course. For his personal courage, he was repeatedly recognized by the military command.

Combat comrade Danylo Shepiniko notes: «Everyone who ever met Mark noticed his openness, energy, and communicability. Mark stood up for the defense of the Motherland with the start of the full-scale invasion at the age of 20… He was sincere and open, had many friends, and, which is very important in our Time, he was not afraid to take responsibility and performed the duties of a unit commander. He terribly disliked staying still, being idle, diligently studied something new, was interested and aspired to development».
The funeral ceremony for Markiyan Dorosh took place on July 30 at the Garrison Church of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul in Lviv. The defender of Ukraine was buried at the Mars Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery.
Markiyan Dorosh is survived by his mother.
