According to TSN.ua: On March 15, during a Ukrainian Premier League match between Shakhtar Donetsk and Metalist 1925 Kharkiv at Arena Lviv, Myroslav, a defender from Mariupol, proposed to combat medic Elina Medynina. The event symbolized their shared experiences during the war.

Elina Medynina, who serves as a senior lieutenant in the medical service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, performed the ceremonial first kick before the match. Nervous that everything would go according to plan, Myroslav made the proposal with a bouquet of red roses.

“I was worried that everything would work out, that I wouldn’t be late, and that everything would go according to plan,” he said.

Elina Medynina spent nearly five months in Russian captivity before being released on October 17, 2022. Her dream of opening a Shakhtar match came true:

“I had red hair and a dream to open a Shakhtar match. Dreams come true,” she said.
