Zaluzhnyi on the end of the war: what scenario is possible for Ukraine.
According to ТСН: The war between Russia and Ukraine may end without a clear victory or defeat for either side.
This opinion was expressed by the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
“The end or cessation of the war, especially one that is drawn out, depends on a combination of achievements or losses on military, economic, and political fronts,” Zaluzhnyi noted, adding that a collapse on one of these fronts 'may only create conditions for its termination.'
In his opinion, the stability of the situation depends on other factors as well. “However, the resilience of the entire structure absolutely depends on the resilience and potential of others. For example, a quickly predicted peace in Ukraine will pose severe questions in Russia regarding the number of human losses — explaining this will be as difficult as explaining corruption in Ukraine today. And of course, the situation on the political front in Russia will not allow this without significant concessions or a complete defeat on our part,” the former military official added.
Zaluzhnyi also noted that it is hard to determine whether the mediators trying to create 'scenarios' for Ukraine are aware of this: “But the fact that the conditions do not improve for Ukraine each time is obvious.”
Earlier, he emphasized that Ukraine aims to achieve peace through victory, not illusions. The diplomat stressed that a just end to the war means restoring the territorial integrity of the state, punishing Russia for war crimes, and guaranteeing that 'no aggressor will ever threaten Europe from Moscow again.'
Zaluzhnyi's expressed thoughts underscore the complexity of the situation and the importance of political and military achievements. The Ukrainian side clearly states its position regarding the desired outcome — the restoration of territory and just punishment for the aggressor. This will undoubtedly impact future negotiations and international initiatives for peaceful resolution of the conflict.
