Timur Mindich stated that there has been no contact with Zelensky: We haven't communicated in a long time.
According to ТСН: Businessman Timur Mindich reported that he currently does not maintain contact with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. He noted that even during his presidency, their communication was infrequent.
This information was shared by Mindich during a meeting in Israel, commenting on this to a journalist. When asked about the last contact with the head of state, he replied briefly:
“Long ago”. The businessman also declined to specify the exact time in question, only pointing out that a lot of time has passed.
Mindich added:
“Unfortunately, I rarely communicate with him. And now I don't communicate at all. And throughout the presidential term, we communicated very rarely”.
What preceded this
It is worth noting that Mindich is suspected of involvement in a large corruption scheme in ‘Energoatom’. He left Ukraine on the night of November 10, just hours before searches were conducted at his apartment in Kyiv. According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the main reason for his departure was the presence of three minor children.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) suspects Mindich of establishing a criminal organization, laundering money obtained illegally, and unlawful influence on Rustem Umerov, who is the former Minister of Defense and current Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. A case against him was opened on August 21, 2025.
President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed sanctions against individuals related to the Energoatom case for three years. Mindich was subject to 17 restrictions during this time, as well as one indefinite — deprivation of state awards and other forms of honor.
In December, Mindich was given a precautionary measure in absentia — detention. Bail was not set, as this is impossible in the conditions of an in absentia trial. The director of NABU, Semen Kryvonos, explained that this is a necessary procedure for declaring the businessman wanted internationally.
The situation with Mindich has sparked considerable media interest, as his connections with high-ranking officials and suspicions of corruption raise doubts about the integrity of the energy sector in Ukraine. These events may influence the state's further steps in the fight against corruption and changes in the country's political landscape.
