In 2026, salaries for teachers will rise to 40 thousand: new rates.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, the level of salaries for university teachers may significantly increase. This initiative was announced by the head of the parliamentary Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Committee, Danilo Hetmantsev, explaining that this should help stop the emigration of personnel from higher education.
Proposals for Increasing Teacher Salaries
Hetmantsev emphasized that most teachers are forced to seek additional income or go abroad due to low salaries. This leads to the loss of young specialists and a decline in the quality of education.
"When the salary is low, teachers either leave or work outside their field. Young researchers do not see the point in staying, and students have no motivation to start a career," the MP emphasized.
The politician also noted that in cooperation with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, they submitted proposals for the state budget for 2026, which envisage establishing transparent and fair salary rates linked to the teacher's qualifications, rank, and experience.
Proposed Salaries for University Teachers
Base salaries without allowances may be as follows:
Assistant / Lecturer — 30,000 UAH
Senior Lecturer — 33,000 UAH
Associate Professor — 36,300 UAH
Professor — 39,930 UAH
In addition to the mentioned amounts, bonuses for academic degrees, ranks, and work experience are planned to be added. According to Hetmantsev, the financing model has already been calculated for the state budget and is ready for implementation.
He is confident that such a reform will not only increase the motivation of educators but will also contribute to the development of universities and scientific activities in the regions.
"The goal is simple: to retain and bring people back to higher education, as well as to develop innovations through transparent and fair salaries," the MP concluded.
The increase in teachers' salaries could be an important step towards improving the situation in education in Ukraine. If the new proposals are implemented, this will not only reduce personnel outflow but will also help create more attractive conditions for young researchers and students, which will in turn positively affect the quality of higher education in the country.
