Zelensky on Elections: There is Currently No Consensus on Voting in Diia.
According to ТСН: As of today, the issue of holding elections to the Rada and local elections has not yet been discussed, and a consensus on voting in the Diia app has not been reached. For the organization of elections, it is necessary for the people's deputies of Ukraine to amend the legislation.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with journalists.
«There is currently no draft law on elections, but all signals have been conveyed to the deputies,» he said.
It is also worth noting that in an interview with Politico published on December 9, US President Donald Trump urged Ukraine to hold presidential elections and suggested that Zelensky could win.
In response, Zelensky confirmed his readiness to hold elections even during the war but emphasized that questions of security, voting by the military, and the necessary legislative framework for the legitimacy of the elections remain open.
Elections in Ukraine are a crucial step towards restoring political stability, especially in the context of conflict. It is important that all legislative changes that may affect the conduct of voting are agreed upon and implemented in a timely manner to ensure a democratic process. Discussions also remain on security mechanisms for election participants, especially in wartime.
