New Russian Attacks on Ukraine’s Water Infrastructure Expected

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has alerted the public to the likelihood of fresh Russian assaults targeting the country’s water supply networks. In response to recent developments, regional communities have been instructed to enhance security measures and protect critical infrastructure. As the president stated,

“We are also aware that the Russians are preparing an operation against water supply systems in the coming months.”

Recent Strikes and Safety Measures

Intelligence indicates that Russia may launch new offensives on Ukraine’s water facilities within the next several months. Notably, on March 24, Russia carried out a massive strike across Ukraine, impacting several regional capitals, including:

  • Lviv
  • Ternopil
  • Vinnytsia
  • Zhytomyr

During those attacks, the center of Ivano-Frankivsk was also hit, resulting in the deaths of a National Guard serviceman and his daughter.

According to Zelenskyy, special attention is being paid to the Chernihiv region, where electricity restoration efforts continued throughout the day. Key security upgrades were finalized during a meeting attended by the Prime Minister, leadership from Naftogaz, government officials, and the Defense Minister. These steps aim to safeguard critical infrastructure and reduce risks amid escalating hostilities.

This warning underscores the gravity of the threat facing Ukraine, particularly in light of recent infrastructure attacks. Protecting water supply systems—vital for sustaining daily life—remains a top priority. While the newly adopted security measures may help mitigate the impact of potential strikes on civilians, the situation remains volatile, requiring close monitoring by authorities and the public alike.
