Russia planned to take Pokrovsk a year ago: why it failed

According to inkorr.com: Russian troops attempted to seize the city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine a year ago, but these plans did not materialize. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukrainian forces are successfully holding back the enemy near this city, which the Russians are trying to use to demonstrate their power.

Words of the President

According to Zelensky, 'Pokrovsk was in all their plans, orders, etc. – the Russians prepared to occupy it at least a year ago. So to say that everything is being done incorrectly now seems to me not very objective considering where we are now with Pokrovsk. They have committed such forces to Pokrovsk that Ukraine cannot allocate one soldier for every eight of the enemy. Just imagine how many forces the Russians have there. But at the same time, they have no planned outcome.'

Zelensky also drew attention to the fact that the Russians are trying to escalate the situation and misinform about their complete control over the eastern part of the country. However, Ukrainian troops are successfully repelling attacks and controlling the situation at the front.

Situation around Pokrovsk

It is noted that the main assault of Russian forces is aimed precisely at Pokrovsk, but Ukrainian defenders are actively responding to the attacks and holding their positions, preventing the enemy from penetrating deeper into the territory. Attempts by the Russians to redirect the key direction of the offensive to another city have also been unsuccessful, and the situation remains under the control of Ukrainian troops.

Thus, the struggle for Pokrovsk continues, and Ukrainian forces confirm their readiness to defend the territory from the aggressor. It is currently important to ensure support for defensive positions and to prevent further advances of Russian troops.
