Zelensky: Ukraine needs serious security guarantees before peace talks with the Russian Federation.

Zelensky: peace talks with Russia are only possible with security guarantees
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that reliable security guarantees are necessary before starting peace negotiations with Russia. He made this statement in an interview with the Italian television channel RaiNews24.
'It is very important for us that peace is achieved. We want peace more than anyone. And this is understandable because we are losing more than anyone, primarily people,' the head of state stressed.
Zelensky also noted that the Russian leadership has always intended to completely destroy Ukraine. He expressed his conviction that it is necessary to prevent the repetition of Russian aggression and ensure reliable security guarantees.
The President recalled the role of the USA in ensuring security and called on America along with Europe to pressure Russia. Zelensky expressed hope that this year he would receive security guarantees and the war would end.
'Without the USA and NATO, security guarantees for Ukraine are impossible,' the president stated earlier. He reminded that membership in the Alliance and support from the United States is the only way to ensure real protection against Russian aggression.
Currently, Ukraine's path to NATO membership is blocked due to resistance within the Alliance. President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda called on NATO allies to increase security assistance to Ukraine and allocate a certain percentage of their GDP for supporting Ukraine.
The possibility of deploying a peacekeeping mission to prevent new Russian aggression is also being considered, to which some leaders have already responded positively.
