Ukrainian President Voices Alarm Over Kremlin’s Intentions

According to UATV: In a recent interview with Le Monde, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed deep concern that Russia lacks any genuine commitment to ending its aggression against Ukraine. He pushed back against the notion, sometimes promoted by U.S. officials, that President Vladimir Putin is ready to conclude the conflict, arguing that the reality on the ground tells a different story.

“We do not see from Russia a sincere desire to end the war, and we share this assessment with our partners.”

Zelensky stressed the urgent need for international partners to ramp up pressure on Moscow. He emphasized that coordinated global action is essential to accelerating the path to peace, stating:

“When we want to end the war and speed up this process, we raise the issue of applying pressure on Russia.”

According to the Ukrainian leader, Kyiv is under no illusion: “We know that Putin does not want to end the war.”

Growing International Backing for Ukraine

During the same interview, Zelensky also revealed that the United States has approached Ukraine for assistance in countering drone threats emanating from bases in Middle Eastern countries. Similar requests for help have come from several other nations, including:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • Qatar
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Bahrain
  • Jordan
  • Kuwait

These developments highlight the broad international support Ukraine continues to receive amid Russia’s ongoing aggression. Zelensky’s remarks underscore Kyiv’s growing anxiety over Moscow’s true intentions regarding the cessation of hostilities. The increasing number of requests for cooperation from Middle Eastern countries signals a global stake in regional stability and a willingness to aid Ukraine in countering aggression. This context reinforces the need for the international community to unite its efforts in pursuit of a lasting peace in Ukraine.
