Zelensky leads peace delegation with Umerov: new composition for negotiations

According to ТСН: The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky approved the updated composition of the Ukrainian delegation for negotiations with the United States, international partners, and representatives of Russia with the aim of achieving a sustainable and just peace.

The corresponding decree was published on the website of the President's Office. The document partially changes the previous composition of the delegation formed on November 22. The head of the negotiating group has been appointed as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov.

Updated composition of the delegation:

  • Rustem Umerov — Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, head of the delegation;
  • Alexander Bevz — advisor to the Cabinet of the President of Ukraine;
  • Kyril Budanov — head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense;
  • Andriy Hnatov — Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • Oleg Ivashchenko — head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine;
  • Sergiy Kyslytsya — First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine;
  • Evgeny Ostriansky — First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council;
  • Alexander Poklad — Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine;
  • Vadim Skibitsky — Deputy Head of the GUR MoD.

The president also announced the preparation for negotiations with the United States, which are scheduled for the near future. Later, Bloomberg reported that the Ukrainian delegation went to the USA to discuss the peace plan proposed by President Donald Trump.

It should be noted that earlier the Ukrainian negotiating group engaged in matters of peaceful settlement with Russia was headed by the previous head of the Office Andriy Yermak. However, on November 28, Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Yermak from his position after events related to his statement and searches conducted by NABU.

According to Axios, Andriy Yermak submitted a resignation letter a day before the planned trip to Miami, where he was to meet with President Donald Trump's team for further negotiations regarding peaceful settlement.

The update of the delegation's composition obliges new members to actively work on peace initiatives. These negotiations may become critically important for Ukraine under current conditions, as the issues of peace and stability remain on the agenda. The slogan of 'peace' is once again coming to the forefront, emphasizing the need for finding compromise solutions.
