What Trump said about the 'agreement with the Russian Federation'
Donald Trump stated that during negotiations with Putin, he concurred with his Russian colleague that the war in Ukraine would end with an exchange of territories and certain security guarantees from the US.
In response to a question about territorial concessions of Ukraine and potential security guarantees from the US, Trump answered that this is a matter of agreement with Vladimir Putin.
'Well, I think those are the points we discussed, and those are the points on which we mostly agreed. In fact, I think we agree on a lot. I can tell you that the meeting was warm,' he said.
The US President noted that although there are very good and brave soldiers in Ukraine and 'the best US weapons', an agreement will still have to be made with Russia.
Trump also referred to Putin as a 'strong guy' and 'incredibly tough,' but said that the meeting went positively.
'I think we are pretty close to an end. And look, Ukraine has to agree to this,' Trump said.
Earlier it was reported that experts and politicians have already the negotiations between Trump and Putin. The overall impression: no specifics or results and even a win for Putin.
Trump also stated that instead of Zelensky, he will not negotiate with Putin. Rather, he will 'prepare the table' for the two presidents.During an interview with journalists after the meeting with Putin, Trump spoke about a possible exchange of territories in Ukraine and security guarantees from the US. He also emphasized the 'warmth' of the meeting and expressed hope that the war in Ukraine would end soon, but stressed the need for agreement with the Ukrainian side.
