Women in the GUR: Kyrylo Budanov spoke about the increase in the number of female personnel.
Women in the GUR: professionalism and training
Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov noted that women in the GUR are taking up more and more space, both in operational and combat work, even though the process has been slower lately.
'Women are appearing in operational roles faster, in combat — a little slower, but the growth is significant. And this trend has been ongoing for quite some time'
Currently, about one and a half thousand women work in the GUR, recognized for their professionalism and training. According to Budanov, women occupy all the top places in the entrance exams for the academy, which is an important trend.
'Since 2020, I have been observing the entrance to our academy. All the top places in the entrance exams are occupied by women. This cannot be called good or bad — it is just a trend. We must acknowledge and understand this'
The head of the GUR also added humorously that 'men are getting smaller, while women are somehow adjusting'. When asked how much women earn in the GUR, Budanov did not provide an exact answer, noting that it is an unethical question.
In the conversation, Budanov also talked about the process of becoming an intelligence officer and shared his prediction regarding the future of Russia after Putin's death.
The head of the GUR’s statement about the role of women in intelligence highlights the trend of their growing numbers and involvement in professional tasks in this field. Emphasizing the professionalism and success of women in entering the intelligence academy indicates their significant role in this area.
