Meeting between Zelensky and the Chancellor of Germany: support and peace

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in New York on September 23, 2024. This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed the security situation in Ukraine and on the battlefield. Zelensky expressed gratitude for Germany's support, particularly for providing air defense systems. According to the Office of the President, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Germany has provided Ukraine with comprehensive support amounting to 35 billion euros.

The President of Ukraine and the Chancellor of Germany agreed on further cooperation within international formats and discussed joint steps to achieve a just peace. In particular, they talked about the implementation of decisions from the first Peace Summit and preparations for the second.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine would not support any alternative peace initiatives that could divide the unity of the international community.

In his telegram channel, the President of Ukraine wrote: "Met with Olaf Scholz. We talked about how to bring a just peace closer. The main thing is to maintain unity. Our Peace Formula is designed precisely for this, and we held a successful first Peace Summit. We are now preparing for the second one".

Zelensky also thanked Germany for their support, noting that joint efforts have saved thousands of lives and enhanced security for all of Europe.

Zelensky also stated in the USA: "The next months will define decades".
