Rescuers were working at the site of the shelling in the village of Khotiv, where a private residential house was partially destroyed as a result of the attack. Under the rubble, they came across a frightened kitten.
“The little animal remained under a heavy slab for almost ten hours, unable to get out by itself. During the disassembly of the structures, the rescuers heard a faint meowing and quickly identified the location where the kitten might be,” the State Emergency Service reported.
SES specialists carefully lifted part of the slab and created a safe space for the rescue. Fortunately, although the kitten was frightened, it turned out to be unharmed. They retrieved it from under the debris and handed it over to local residents.
The SES team continues to deal with the consequences of another insidious strike by Russia.
It is worth noting that last night the Russian army shelled the Kyiv region, resulting in one person dead.
“A resident of the Fastiv region of the Boyarsk community, born in 1952, died in her own house. As of now, injuries have been recorded in five regions of the oblast. Among the victims are women and men of different ages,” the agency's message states.
Preliminarily, 14 people were injured as a result of the Russian attack.
This incident underscores not only the brutality of military actions but also the strength of human kindness and the professionalism of the rescuers, who in difficult conditions offer a chance at life to both people and animals. By saving the kitten, they also demonstrate their readiness to help in the toughest times, restoring hope amidst the ruins.
