According to ТСН: Today in the Orthodox calendar is celebrated the feast day of Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous. Saint Spyridon was born around 270 AD in a poor peasant family in the village of Cyprus. His childhood was spent in simplicity: working as a shepherd and taking care of sheep, he developed a sense of humility, love for God, and neighbors.

Spyridon was married and had a child, but after losing his wife, he completely dedicated his life to serving God. His life was filled with asceticism: he often prayed, fasted, and adhered to strict spiritual practices.

Despite his simple origins, Spyridon was chosen as the Bishop of Trimythous. In church service, he displayed wisdom and humility. He was distinguished by simplicity in life, kindness, and the ability for deep spiritual guidance.

The miracles of Saint Spyridon were always accompanied by his deep faith in divine providence and humility before the will of the Lord. He participated in the First Council of Nicaea in 325, where he defended the orthodox faith against the Arians who denied the divinity of Christ.

Saint Spyridon died around 348 AD. His relics are kept in Corfu (Greece), where they remain a site of pilgrimage.
