Scheduled Power Outages Return Across Ukraine on March 21: When to Expect Blackouts.
Electricity Rationing Schedules in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Starting on March 21, hourly power outage schedules will be enforced nationwide from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. This measure comes as a direct response to damage inflicted on the national power grid by Russian missile and drone strikes. The outages will affect every region of Ukraine, as authorities work to maintain grid stability while repairs are underway.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed that restoration efforts at energy facilities are ongoing, with the government prioritizing infrastructure recovery and improved energy supply. Meanwhile, First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stressed the urgency of preparing the energy sector for winter, disclosing the total funding required for that purpose.
Talks with International Partners
Ukraine is also in discussions with international allies to secure equipment for thermal power plants and combined heat and power stations. These initiatives aim to strengthen the resilience of the energy system and ensure reliable electricity delivery during emergencies.
The current situation highlights the severe challenges Ukraine faces in rebuilding its energy infrastructure after repeated attacks. Scheduled blackouts are a temporary step designed to preserve the stability of the power grid. Reforming and modernizing the energy sector remains a top government priority, one that will likely determine the country’s ability to handle future energy-related crises.
