Ryanair changes ticket refund rules: in which cases can you get your money back.
The popular Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has strict rules regarding ticket refunds. Passengers can only get their money back in cases where the flight has been canceled or delayed due to the company's fault.
According to avianews.com, Ryanair does not refund money for tickets if the passenger missed the flight or was late. However, there are specific situations where the airline may refund the money or provide a credit for future flights.
- if the flight was canceled by the low-cost airline;
- if the flight is delayed for more than 5 hours;
- if the passenger was denied boarding due to overbooking.
In case the passenger cannot fly for medical reasons, the money is not refunded. However, the passenger may take out insurance that will cover such situations.
Additionally, the airline may issue a travel credit in case of the death of a close relative of the passenger within 10 days before departure (official partner, parents, or child). To obtain the credit, the passenger must contact Ryanair with the appropriate application and documents confirming the death and family ties. The credit must be used within 12 months, otherwise it will be canceled.
