Ukraine outlined conditions for ending the war: why a ceasefire should be the first step.
Advisor to the President's Office Serhiy Leshchenko stated that Ukraine sees ending the war as a result of a ceasefire and the signing of a peace agreement. His statement was made during a telethon.
Ukraine's Position on Ending the War
Leshchenko expressed the position that Trump's stance on signing a peace agreement without a ceasefire may be negotiable, but Ukraine currently has a different understanding of how to end the conflict. His argument is that a ceasefire brings risks of blackmail for Ukraine and opens up possibilities for diplomacy. This approach creates significant risks for the country.
The news also mentions that during a meeting with Putin, Trump provided him with an honor guard and a red carpet, despite the fact that Putin is officially recognized as a military criminal by the International Criminal Court. Trump also announced a future meeting with Zelensky and Putin, but mentioned that Putin is not yet ready for a ceasefire. Zelensky, for his part, plans to meet with Trump in Washington.
During the telethon, the president's advisor expressed the position that in order to end the war, not only a peace agreement is necessary but also a ceasefire to avoid the risk of blackmail for Ukraine and to open up diplomatic opportunities. It was also pointed out that Trump's actions regarding the meeting with Putin and the announced meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky are inconsistent.Read also
