According to ТСН: In Ukraine, emergency and hourly power outages may be implemented due to severe frost.

Forecasts for the energy system

The head of the board of Ukrenergo, Vitaliy Zaychenko, emphasized during a telethon the critical period for the energy system when the temperature drops to -10°C and below. This may last for at least a week.

“For us, the critical period is prolonged — for at least a week — with temperatures of -10 and below. At the same time, energy consumption may increase quite significantly,” says the head of Ukrenergo.

Under such conditions, ensuring energy consumption will be challenging, both from imports and internal resources. This may lead to the introduction of not just scheduled outages but also emergency shutdowns.

Situation with electricity supply

Zaychenko noted that the situation is unlikely to worsen unless there are new attacks on the energy infrastructure.

“It is unlikely there will be more than four outages if there are no new strikes on the energy infrastructure. Predictions are a thankless task these days because we are under attack from the aggressor every day,” he added.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sviridenko also expressed hope for an improvement in the electricity situation. Given the constant challenges facing Ukraine's energy sector, it is essential to be prepared for various scenarios. Emphasis is again placed on the need to conserve energy resources and be cautious in electricity consumption to avoid critical situations.
