Isayenko's Tough Choice
According to TSN.ua: Andriy Isayenko, an actor from the TV series 'The Woman Doctor,' has opened up about his relatives in Russia who back the aggression against Ukraine—and his decision to sever all ties with them. According to the actor, his maternal family lives in Siberia, a region where anti-Ukraine sentiment runs deep. Isayenko revealed that his cousin has joined the Russian military, and the son of his mother's sister is also fighting in Russia's army.
The actor made the call to stop communicating with family members who support the aggression.
“I calmly removed those people from my life, and that's it. Goodbye. They are no longer relatives,” he stated firmly.Isayenko further added that
“it's much easier to cut someone out for their bad actions.”These statements highlight his clear stance on the conflict and his rejection of ties with those who back the war against Ukraine.
A Spectrum of Views Among Relatives
One of Isayenko's relatives, a female cousin, actually apologized for the actions of the Russian people. This case illustrates the diversity of opinions within his family, yet the actor reserves the right to distance himself from anyone who supports aggressive policies.
Isayenko's choice reflects a broader social reality where many Ukrainians—especially public figures—face the painful dilemma of navigating relationships with relatives who side with the aggressor. This situation sparks discussions about moral standards, accountability for the actions of loved ones, and how war reshapes family bonds. Amid the ongoing conflict, such personal decisions carry weight not just for individuals but for society as a whole, underscoring the deep divides in perspectives on the war and its consequences.
