An incident involving US aviation occurred in the Red Sea. The F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet fell overboard while being towed on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. According to the Navy, one sailor sustained minor injuries. An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
American officials add that initial reports from the scene indicate that the USS Harry S. Truman destroyer made a sharp turn to avoid fire from the Houthis. This led to the fighter jet falling overboard. Another official reported that the fighter jet has sunk. The cost of such an aircraft is over 60 million dollars.
Houthi rebels from Yemen claimed to have launched a missile and drone attack on the aircraft carrier, which was in the Red Sea. The carrier strike group is in the Middle East and remains fully operational. The US had previously struck the Houthi fuel port, to which the Houthis responded with condemnation of the action.
Additional details of the scandalous correspondence in the Signal messenger have also become known. A journalist found himself in a closed group chat about US strikes in Yemen. US President Donald Trump stated that Iran is responsible for the Houthi attacks.
