January 20th Attack on Kyiv

According to TSN.ua: The aftermath of the large-scale assault on Kyiv on January 20, 2023, continues to severely impact the capital. Residents, particularly in the Left Bank and Pechersk districts, are grappling with significant disruptions to electricity, water, and heating services. These attacks on civilian infrastructure are a recurring feature of the ongoing war in Ukraine, now approaching its second year.

Specific impacts include:

  • 5,635 apartment buildings remain without heating.
  • The Desnianskyi district is almost 100% without power and also lacks heat.
  • Cold water is practically unavailable across the Pechersk district, causing major concern for locals.
  • Approximately 40% of consumers in the Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, and Solomianskyi districts are without heating.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that the situation with water and heat supply on the Left Bank and in Pechersk remains difficult. Local authorities continue to work on restoring utility services, but the effects of the attack are still being felt.

This attack represents another instance of the tense situation in Ukraine, which has persisted since the onset of the military conflict.

Restoring utilities in Kyiv is critically important for ensuring normal living conditions for residents, especially during the winter. The city's administration and relevant services are making efforts to repair the infrastructure, but the situation requires time and resources for a full resolution.
