Drone Attack on Lviv

According to Novyny.live: On March 24, Russian forces carried out a drone assault on Lviv, causing major destruction across the city. The attack left 24 people injured, with seven requiring hospitalization. By 8:30 PM, all 24 victims had sought treatment at facilities under Lviv's First Medical Union, according to Marta Baidaka.

The hospitalized individuals were sent to different medical centers:

  • 2 people to St. Panteleimon Hospital
  • 5 people to St. Luke Hospital

Officials report that at least 17 apartments in central Lviv are now uninhabitable. Residential buildings and historic sites, including the Bernardine Monastery, sustained damage during the assault. A three-story building on Soborna Square was completely destroyed.

Aftermath and Response

Transport disruptions followed the strikes, with several tram routes suspended. Ihor Kurus noted that rescue teams faced delays due to the threat of further Russian attacks on Lviv. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi confirmed that loud explosions were heard across the city, triggering fires.

Known destruction includes:

  • 17 apartments
  • a three-story building on Soborna Square
  • a strike on the Bernardine Monastery

This attack marks another tragic chapter in the ongoing war, raising deep concern among Lviv's residents. As part of Russia's broader aggression against Ukraine—now spanning over a year—this assault on civilian targets, particularly historical landmarks, underscores the severe threat to both civilians and the nation's cultural heritage. The resulting casualties and damage present fresh challenges for local medical and emergency services, who continue operating under dangerous conditions. Rebuilding the city will demand significant time, resources, and international support amid the prolonged conflict.
