According to TSN.ua: As of January 26, 2023, severe disruptions to heating and electricity supply are being reported in Kyiv and several Ukrainian regions. More than 1,200 apartment buildings in the capital remain without heat. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened an emergency meeting to discuss immediate steps to resolve the situation. This crisis unfolds during a harsh winter, compounding the hardship for residents.
Beyond Kyiv, critical heating and power issues have also been recorded in the following oblasts:
- Kyiv
- Kharkiv
- Chernihiv
- Sumy
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Zaporizhzhia
The President stressed the urgent need for action, stating that
"the timelines currently being discussed cannot be considered satisfactory"- Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He emphasized the gravity of the situation, given the large number of people requiring immediate assistance.
The meeting addressed a plan for further measures, including an assessment of Kyiv's social infrastructure readiness and options for emergency procurement for the capital. It was also noted that on the night of January 25-26, 2023, Russian Shahed-type drones threatened the Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro, further complicating the regional situation.
