Budanov dismissed JPMorgan's scenarios for Ukraine: what awaits the country after the war.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, commented on four scenarios for the end of the war in Ukraine from analysts at JPMorgan Chase. The intelligence chief stated that scenarios like the Belarusian or Georgian ones are unlikely to satisfy Ukrainians.
Kyrylo Budanov said this in an interview with Natalia Mosiichuk.
Budanov on the scenarios for the end of the war in Ukraine
Budanov commented on the analysis by analysts at JPMorgan Chase, who predicted four likely scenarios for the end of the war in Ukraine. They named the Georgian scenario, where the West would withdraw military support and Ukraine would face instability, as the most probable (50%). Following it are the Israeli, South Korean, and Belarusian scenarios.
The intelligence chief noted that the opinion of JPMorgan Chase cannot simply be ignored. However, Budanov believes that the question is not what might happen, but what Ukrainians want to achieve.
'These are scenarios for the development of events; this is the first thing to remember. This is not dogma; this is purely a scenario, options', he remarked.
Despite the seriousness of JP Morgan, Budanov urged not to focus solely on the analysts' assessments but to think about what the Ukrainian society actually strives for.
In Budanov's opinion, scenarios like the Belarusian or Georgian ones are unlikely to satisfy Ukrainians. At the same time, options like 'Israelization' or the South Korean model seem more appealing, although they remain debatable.
'I believe we need to think about how to live further in the conditions we are already in. And to think about how to preserve our statehood, our society, our culture, and our nation. And the hardest thing in this situation will be to think about how to get back what we have temporarily lost', Budanov said.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate dismissed the 'Georgian' scenario for Ukraine but issued a warning:
'As of now — no. Definitely no. It is impossible. Even if someone wanted to turn, say, towards Russia — it simply won’t work. And the events we see in our society confirm this once again. Right now, it is impossible. But the question is, what will happen next? If we all do not change and do not start to perceive what is, various things could happen. It is far from being the most pleasant, as they say', Budanov concluded.
Recently, Budanov stated that even if Russian dictator Vladimir Putin dies, nothing will change in the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Budanov spoke about Russia developing plans for the largest rearmament of its army since the 1980s.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, expressed his thoughts on various scenarios proposed by analysts at JPMorgan Chase. Emphasizing that Ukrainians want to preserve their statehood, he highlighted the importance of understanding what future they aspire to see and what steps need to be taken to achieve this goal.
