The renowned artist Vadym Tupchiy died from a Russian attack: how his friends remember him

According to ТСН: Today, a farewell took place in the capital for Vadym Tupchiy — an outstanding Ukrainian artist, master of decorations and props for film and theater. He was 65 years old and tragically died during a Russian attack on Kyiv.

Friends and colleagues remember him as a wonderful friend and an incredibly bright personality.

Hit on a building in Rusanivka

The night of November 25 saw an attack on a nine-story building in Rusanivka when the Russians used a strike drone. As a result, there was a large hole left in the wall of the building and a burned facade.

In this incident, two people died, including the renowned artist Vadym Tupchiy. An enemy 'Shahed' hit directly into his apartment on the seventh floor.

Tupchiy's friends are bringing flowers to the site of the tragedy.

Workshop in the “Swiss Clock”

Vadym Tupchiy lived and worked in his apartment for 26 years, considering it a “one-room workshop.” The place was filled with amazing decorations and props that he created by hand.

Ukrainian actor and director Victor Andriyenko noted the atmosphere of this workshop:

“He even slept under the workbench. It was completely filled with tools for work, so it was like stepping into a Swiss clock. It was such a great madhouse, everything strange, but very tidy, and only he knew where and what could be found.”

From theater to “Long-nosed”

Vadym Tupchiy received acting education and worked as a set designer at the Theater of Drama and Comedy, as well as at a factory for wind musical instruments. At 25, he met Victor Andriyenko at the 'Sharzh' theater, and since then they became good friends.

Interestingly, all his friends called him Dmytro.

For a wider audience, Tupchiy gained popularity due to his participation in the TV show “Long-nosed.” He created legendary noses for the actors and even participated in the show himself.

“And he made all the props, that is, such rails that fell on our heads, all the kettles with which we hit each other, sticks, everything he made, it was not painful, beautiful,”
recalls Victor Andriyenko.

An artist and a good person

Vadym Tupchiy had a unique ability to bring to life what seemed possible only in animation to others.

In particular, he created a transformer for the music video of the hip-hop group “Tanok na Maidani Kongo” for the song “Novina.” Vadym not only crafted it but also taught how this “traveler” should move. In addition, he wrote poems, songs, and music for them.

Friends remember his kindness. Everyone who knew the artist claims that the world has lost an incredibly bright individual.
