Lviv region switches to remote work and learning due to deteriorating weather conditions.
According to ТСН: In the Lviv region, due to the worsening weather conditions, it is recommended to switch to remote work for businesses, institutions, and organizations.
The head of the OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi, noted:
“Exceptions are made for critical infrastructure facilities and those where remote work is impossible during martial law”.
In addition, it is recommended to suspend in-person classes in kindergartens, general educational institutions, colleges, and universities in the region and switch to a remote format or extend the winter holidays at least until January 19.
Kozytskyi emphasized that the decisions of local government bodies will be made taking into account the situation in each community.
“All measures are temporary and will only be in effect during the period of severe weather conditions”, - he added.
Extension of holidays in Lviv
According to the Lviv City Council, winter holidays have been extended in the regional center. Schools are recommended not to resume classes for another three days — from January 12 to 14 inclusive.
Preschools will operate in a mode of on-duty groups. Extracurricular education institutions and art schools remain unchanged. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi stated:
“Remote learning will not be implemented during this period”.
At the same time, in Kyiv, after a massive strike by the Russian Federation on the night of January 9, a difficult situation is observed. The city is experiencing disruptions in heating and water supply. The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, urged people to leave the city, where they can find alternative sources of heating and power.
It is important to note that at night, the Russians deliberately attacked the heating facilities of the capital. In some areas of Kyiv, there were power outages and interruptions in water supply due to damage to substations, lines, and generation facilities.
Given the severe weather situation in the Lviv region, local authorities are taking measures aimed at ensuring the safety of residents. At the same time, the infrastructure problems in Kyiv present additional challenges that need urgent solutions. As the situation shows, the authorities are actively working to ensure the liveliness of the cities in these difficult conditions.
