Russia has again attacked the energy system: seven regions are left without electricity.
According to ТСН: Russian troops have once again attacked the Ukrainian energy system, resulting in consumers in seven regions being left without electricity. Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak shared information about the progress of restoration work.
On the night of January 12, the enemy struck at facilities of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Due to the shelling, consumers in the Odesa, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Chernihiv regions were left without electricity. Energy workers began emergency restoration work that night.
Electricity situation in the regions
In the Odesa and Zhytomyr regions, repair work is ongoing, and specialists are trying to restore electricity supply to consumers' homes as quickly as possible.
In Chernihiv, one of the energy infrastructure facilities was damaged due to shelling, which left several settlements without electricity. Restoration of electricity will start after the security situation stabilizes.
In Kyiv and the region, restoration work is also underway. In parts of the capital, emergency power outages are being used, while energy workers are transitioning from emergency restrictions to planned hourly power outages.
Power outages due to bad weather
Some outages are related to difficult weather conditions:
in Kyiv region, 161 settlements were left without electricity,
in Zakarpattia region - 48,
in Dnipropetrovsk region - 36,
in Chernihiv region - 15.
Repair teams of the regional energy companies are working to restore damaged power lines.
As of today, hourly outage schedules are in effect in most regions of the country. In Kyiv and the region, as well as in Odesa, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, emergency schedules are being used, the duration of which may vary depending on further decreases in temperature.
Andarak urged citizens to understand the temporary restrictions, support each other, and, where possible, use electricity sparingly during this difficult time.
It is worth noting that on January 12, the Russian army attacked the civilian infrastructure of the city of Novhorod-Siverskyi in Chernihiv region. As a result of the shelling, an important energy facility was damaged, leading to the disconnection of several settlements.
In addition, Russian invaders have again struck at the energy infrastructure of the Odesa region, causing severe damage. According to DTEK, due to massive equipment damage, 33.5 thousand families were left without electricity.
This situation highlights the significant challenges facing the Ukrainian energy system during hostilities. Restoring electricity supply and repairing infrastructure are priority tasks that require the mobilization of all resources. Despite the difficulties, energy workers continue to work on stabilizing energy systems, while citizens are called to save and support each other during these trials.
