The priest named the only case when abortion is not a sin: what is it.
According to ТСН: Priest-blogger Oleksiy Filiuk from Ternopil region clarified whether abortion is a sin in the case of material or social difficulties.
He shared his thoughts on this topic on Instagram.
"We are spiritually poor the most. If God gives a child, He will also provide for the child. Having an abortion is a sin,"the priest stated.
Filiuk noted that the church does not consider abortion a sin only in one case.
"Except in the case of the mother's death, when there is a threat of death for the mother. For example, if the fetus in the mother's womb starts to die and decay. Then a person must act, because both the mother and the child will die. In such cases, there is no sin. But the church cannot say that abortion is not a sin because it is the murder of unborn children,"the priest explained.
He urged expectant mothers who are contemplating abortion to rethink this idea.
"Whoever has not confessed that sin, let them confess. Take penance, repent, convert, and do not do such a thing. If you have thoughts about this, may God protect and prevent you from doing so. God gave you a child — you will have what you need for the child. You will not be hungry. And if you have hands, you will work, and everything will be fine. But having an abortion is not blessed. Whether in a difficult situation or not — give birth. I will be criticized now, but I say what the Word of God tells me. I cannot say that killing is not a sin. It is a sin. Especially to kill your own child,"the priest concluded.
Such statements by Filiuk have elicited various reactions in society, as the issue of abortion remains extremely sensitive. Although his position is based on spiritual and religious beliefs, many people may hold different views on this complex situation, considering various life circumstances. Communicating on this topic is important for understanding the multidimensionality of the issue and supporting dialogue in society.
