Budanov on the Economy of the Russian Federation: 46% of the Budget for War and When to Expect Collapse.
According to ТСН: Economic Difficulties of Russia may not significantly affect the situation on the battlefield, but radically change the Kremlin's attitude towards ending the war.
Thoughts of Kyrylo Budanov
This opinion was expressed by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, in an interview with 'Suspilne'.
He pointed out that in the budget for 2026, Russia plans to spend 46% of all resources on war.
'Any country cannot develop and move forward normally when it spends 46% on war. This is impossible,' believes the head of the GUR.
Impact of Economic Difficulties
According to him, Russia's economic problems may not affect the immediate battlefield, but will 'absolutely' affect the Russians' attitude towards ending the war.
Budanov also acknowledged that at the current pace, there is still a long way to the economic collapse of Russia.
'If the war continues as it is, and Russia continues to go down at this rate, - it will take a very long time. But is Russia ready to wait that long? That is another question. Problems already exist, and they are significant,' concluded the head of the GUR.
Previously, The Washington Post discovered what factors could lead to the collapse of Putin's economy in wartime conditions.
This situation raises doubts about Russia's ability to continue military activity amid economic difficulties. The importance of economic indicators for conducting war is becoming increasingly relevant, as military expenses can significantly limit other areas of the country's development. How the Kremlin will respond to these challenges will determine the future dynamics of the conflict.
