According to ТСН: On the night of December 27, Russian occupiers carried out a combined strike against Ukraine with drones and rockets of various types.

Type of Attacks and Their Effects

The head of the Air Force Command's communication department, Yuriy Ihnat, commented on the specifics of this shelling in the program 'Hromadske Radio'.

“The character of the attack - movement of targets of various types from different directions, effectively on one region. Today, the capital of Ukraine and the region were under fire. Critical infrastructure objects are being targeted, and these are of course the energy supply and other objects that interest the enemy,” he explained.

According to Ihnat, ground systems and aviation are used during the attack, which requires the coordination of military actions in a limited area.

“When such a dense attack comes, it is very difficult to organize air defense. In urban areas, where the density is high, this leads to terrible consequences, with people, children suffering and houses falling under the enemy's attack...,” he added.

Use of Aviation and New Challenges

Yuriy Ihnat also emphasized that in the event of a missile attack, aviation will be involved:

“...If there is a missile attack, aviation will undoubtedly be involved. F-16s, Mirages, as well as MiG-29s and Su-27s can be used. F-16s are effectively fulfilling their tasks, and they were also used in this attack.”

The head of the communication department noted that this attack specifically differs from previous ones: The missiles flew through various regions, giving the chance to intercept them:

“It is clear that aviation cannot enter the area where air defense is active. Therefore, if everything flies towards Kyiv and the region, it is difficult to concentrate army helicopters, which are hunting for 'Shadows', and to organize the work of ground systems...,” Yuriy Ihnat added.

Severe Consequences for the Capital

On the night and morning of December 27, Kyiv was attacked by Russian drones and missiles. The Russians carried out a massive strike against the capital, in many districts there were destructions of residential buildings.

32 injuries are known, some of whom are being assisted in hospitals. One man died.

The Russian attack plunged Kyiv into cold and darkness. The city is experiencing interruptions in heating, water, and electricity. Over 2,600 residential buildings, nearly 200 kindergartens, and over a hundred schools have been left without central heating.

This attack once again shows how vulnerable Ukrainian cities remain in the face of aggression. Authorities and officials are trying to respond to the situation by restoring infrastructure and helping those affected. Despite the challenges, Ukrainians continue to unite in the fight for their country.
