Diesel in Ukraine is Rising Sharply: Named Gas Station Networks with the Biggest Increase.
According to inkorr.com: The rapid rise in diesel prices in Europe has already affected the Ukrainian market: wholesale and retail prices at gas stations have risen again, with premium networks raising prices first. This trend is exacerbated by logistics problems, supply blockages, and a lack of alternative suppliers. This is reported by enkorr.
How Diesel Prices Have Changed
Last week, European quotations rose by 27 dollars per ton, and over two weeks, the total increase amounted to more than 94 dollars. The purchasing price for fuel increased by 6 hryvnias per liter over the month. The situation in Ukraine is complicated by unfavorable weather conditions in the south, restrictions on imports from Romania, and a lack of alternative supply routes.
The average wholesale price for diesel reached 52.38 UAH per liter, while in the retail segment, prices increased by 1.03 UAH per week. However, on the shelves, the reaction to the rise in wholesale prices was restrained, leading to a decrease in margins to the lowest level since February — 4.94 UAH per liter.
Who Raised Diesel Prices the Most
In the context of decreasing margins, market operators are forced to adjust their retail prices.
The highest increase was recorded in the Market network — plus 3 UAH per liter of diesel.Other operators also changed their prices:
Market (+3 UAH/l), VST and Parallel (+2 UAH/l), SOCAR (+1–2 UAH/l), UPG (+1.60 UAH/l), OKKO, WOG, Chipo, KLO, Ukrnafta, and others (+1 UAH/l)
Despite the overall trend, there are still 'anomalous' prices in the market. For example, the Factor network sold diesel for one hryvnia cheaper than the average wholesale price, although import volumes were minimal. A similar situation was observed in some regions of BRSM, where prices remained at 51.49–51.99 UAH per liter.
What Will Happen Next
According to observations, the market has
the potential for further growthof at least 2.50 UAH per liter. Prices are nearly unresponsive to increases in wholesale costs, so price corrections are inevitable. Compensating for the decline in diesel margins through other types of fuel is challenging, as gasoline prices are rising slowly, and liquefied gas remains stable.
In the context of constant fluctuations in diesel prices, it's important to monitor market developments. The rise in fuel prices can affect other sectors of the economy, so understanding the causes and consequences of this process will be critically important for consumers and businesses in Ukraine.
