Amazing iris bloom in Ukraine in December: biologists explain the anomaly.
According to ТСН: In the southern Odesa region, an iris has unexpectedly bloomed, which usually starts blooming from May to June.
Biologist Ivan Rusev, head of the scientific department of the Tuzlivski Lymany National Nature Park, reported this. He shared an unusual video on his Facebook account, showing the flower that bloomed in early December.
“This year's weather is special and unpredictable, and therefore it shows its surprises”
Ivan Rusev noted that irises usually bloom only in May and June. He also added:
“Usually, the graceful iris flowers not only attract attention due to their variety of shades – from crystal white to deep purple – but also impress with their elegance and resilience. This December iris is yellow and incredibly beautiful”
It is worth noting that due to global climate changes, significant and uneven growth of the average annual temperature is predicted in Ukraine in the coming decades.
This case of irises in Odesa is yet another confirmation of how climate changes affect nature. Studying such anomalies can help understand how to adapt to new conditions and preserve the region's flora. It is important to treat changes in the environment responsibly, as they can have far-reaching consequences for the ecosystem.
