Over half a million families without electricity in Dnipropetrovsk region: how the region is coping with the aftermath of the strike.
According to ТСН: In Dnipropetrovsk region, over half a million families are left without electricity. Meanwhile, about 200,000 subscribers have already managed to restore power supply, and this process is ongoing. Specialists are primarily focused on restoring critical infrastructure, including boiler houses and pumping stations. As a result of the massive strike by the Russians, the region has been left without light, heat, and water.
Situation in the region
Dnipropetrovsk region is still recovering from the consequences of the power outage. Many areas remain without water and heat under the constant noise of generators. Energy workers are working continuously to restore supply. The main power outage occurred around ten in the evening during a powerful attack on the region. As a result, water supply was disrupted, electric transport stopped, and the metro in Dnipro is still not operational, trams and trolleybuses are absent from routes. Police are regulating traffic at difficult intersections.
Children will remain on vacation until the end of the week, with emergency groups organized in kindergartens. In areas without water supply, people are forced to stand in line for water, hoping for the restoration of heat supply before the frost sets in.
Restoration of electricity supply
Energy workers continue to operate to ensure that critical infrastructure is powered, after which they plan to restore electricity for other consumers. Many homes already have electricity and water supply again. Utility services are trying to restart boiler houses that were previously de-energized. Despite improvements, the situation remains complicated.
Hospitals that also lost electricity switched to generators and were able to continue providing medical assistance to patients. In one of the largest hospitals, there was no power for just thirty seconds, after which the backup power automatically kicked in during operations. Medical staff confirmed that no patients were harmed due to the power outage. Overall, hospital ventilators were powered by batteries until the generators were restarted.
It should be noted that the city of Dnipro experienced a complete blackout due to the hit of the RF in the energy infrastructure. All thermal power plants and substations in the region have been shut down.
The situation in Dnipropetrovsk region remains tense, although the restoration of electricity supply is gradually taking place. Local authorities and energy companies are doing everything possible to return life to a normal rhythm. Under constant attacks, it is important to support critical infrastructure and provide the population with necessary resources, including water and heat, especially on the eve of cold weather.
