According to ТСН: In Ukraine, power outages of up to 12 hours per day are possible in the coming days.

This was announced by the head of the board of "Ukrenergo," Vitaliy Zaychenko, during a television marathon.

The outages will affect three categories of consumers, but the situation may vary in different regions.

Zaychenko emphasized that the emergency shutdowns are the result of shelling of energy facilities by Russian troops, particularly in the Sumy region, as well as unfavorable circumstances that caused damage to generation facilities and complicated the operation of hydropower plants.

“Therefore, to maintain the integrity of the energy system, the dispatcher was forced to apply emergency shutdowns,” he explained.

The number of power outages has increased after the massive attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

The shelling affected the following regions:

  • Kyiv

  • Chernihiv

  • Lviv

  • Odesa

  • Zaporizhzhia

  • Dnipropetrovsk

  • Mykolaiv

  • Kharkiv

Also, due to the shelling, DTEK's thermal power plants were damaged, which led to a temporary reduction in electricity production at nuclear power plants. As a result of the attack on the Kremenchuk district of Poltava region, part of the heating and water supply system was affected.

Zaychenko noted that the most difficult situation is currently observed in the Chernihiv and Donetsk regions. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed that hourly outage schedules are in effect in Ukraine, and the government is working to reduce them.

It should be noted that previously, energy workers stated that the true reason for the power outages in Ukraine is not the sale of electricity to Moldova, but the massive attacks of Russia.

In the current situation, it is important to understand that Ukraine's energy system is undergoing serious tests due to external military threats. The country's authorities, along with energy workers, are doing everything possible to minimize the consequences of outages and ensure the stability of electricity supply for the population and industry.
