Drapaty officially took command of the OSUV 'Khortytsia'.
New commander of 'Khortytsia' - Major General Mykhailo Drapaty
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi introduced the new commander of the operational-strategic grouping of troops 'Khortytsia' - the commander of the Ground Forces of the AFU Major General Mykhailo Drapaty to the personnel. This was reported by the commander in social media.
As Syrskyi noted, the enemy is concentrating the largest forces precisely in those areas that fall within the operational zone of the OSUV 'Khortytsia'.
'Our task is to hold the line, inflict maximum losses on the Russian occupiers and take care of the Ukrainian defenders. I have set primary tasks to counteract the pressure of the superior enemy,' he emphasized.
The commander also thanked the former commander of the operational-strategic grouping of troops Andrii Hnatov for his work, who will continue service as the deputy chief of the General Staff of the AFU.
Let us remind you, on January 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced personnel changes in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty was appointed head of the operational-strategic grouping of troops 'Khortytsia'.
Mykhailo Drapaty was appointed commander of the Ground Forces of the AFU on November 29, 2024. At that Time, the President reported that Drapaty successfully organized the defense in the Kharkiv direction and thwarted the offensive operation of the Russian forces.
During the invasion, the officer demonstrated willpower: since March 2022, he has been leading the operational grouping of troops 'South', which stopped the advance of enemies towards Kryvyi Rih; one of the commanders who led the liberation of the right bank of Kherson region in 2022.
In May 2024, Major General Drapaty was appointed commander of the Operational-Tactical Grouping of Troops 'Kharkiv'. He managed to stop the sharp advance of the Russian army in the Kharkiv direction (in the area of the city of Volchansk).
By the way, at the end of September, after stabilizing the front in Kharkiv region, the higher military command appointed Mykhailo Drapaty as the head of the operational-tactical grouping 'Luhansk'.
