Russians struck a residential building in Kyiv with Shahed drones twice: a rescue doctor was killed.
According to ТСН: On the night of January 9, Russian occupiers attacked a residential building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv twice with "Shahed" drones. These drones were equipped with additional means of destruction to cause maximum damage.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized that this attack shows Vladimir Putin's contempt for peace initiatives.
“We all see that this is a residential area, and the "Shahed" drones deliberately flew here twice. Their warhead was filled with additional means of destruction to inflict maximum harm. Unfortunately, a doctor, who came to save people, was killed — he became a victim of the second strike. Any weakness is an encouragement for Putin to continue terror. We must respond contrary to what the enemy expects,” said Andrii Sybiha.
Sybiha also noted that under a decree from the President of Ukraine, his team is actively cooperating with international partners, demanding not only weapons but also increased sanctions pressure.
In his opinion, the adoption of a new sanctions package by the European Union should increase pressure on the Kremlin regime. He expressed concern about the reactions of countries that previously condemned fake attacks on the Kremlin but are now silent.
“We want a reaction not only from the Qatari side but also from those countries that recently condemned a supposed strike by the Ukrainian side on a supposed residence of Putin. There was no such strike, but there was a reaction. And now we expect from those states that disgracefully reacted to this pseudo-fact to condemn the real terrorist missile strike on Ukraine. Any delay only activates the aggressor. However, we already have some positive signals regarding air defense and the possibilities for speeding up supplies,” added the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Andrii Sybiha also mentioned the importance of visits by foreign leaders to affected areas of Kyiv, demonstrating support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Recovery efforts are currently underway, and medical institutions and rescue services are operating in emergency mode.
What is known about the attack on Kyiv
On the night of January 9, Russian troops deliberately attacked district heating plants in Kyiv, leading to power outages and water supply disruptions due to damage to substations, lines, and generation facilities.
As a result of the Russian attack in Kyiv, four people were killed, and at least 25 others were injured.
During the large-scale air attack on the capital, Russian troops used dozens of missiles of various types and over two hundred strike drones.
Among those killed during the nighttime attack was 56-year-old medic Serhii Smoliak, who had 30 years of experience and hailed from Nova Kakhovka. The tragedy occurred when an ambulance crew attempted to rescue the injured on Bazhana Avenue.
This is yet another tragic incident that highlights the threat posed by drones and missile strikes on the civilian population of Ukraine. Calls for international support and the imposition of new sanctions are becoming increasingly urgent in light of these attacks, which not only damage infrastructure but also take the lives of innocent people.
