Critical Strain on Kyiv's Grid: Two Utility Workers Die from Overexertion.
Tragic Incidents in Kyiv
According to TSN.ua: Two emergency maintenance workers in Kyiv have died from extreme overexertion while working under critical pressure. Specialists are now working 48 to 72-hour shifts without rest, significantly endangering their health.
On January 14, in the Obolon district, an employee of the 'Kyivteploenergo' company also died due to the grueling working conditions. These tragedies occur against a backdrop of relentless attacks by the Russian Federation and severe winter frosts, which have pushed Kyiv's energy system into a critical operational state. This highlights the immense strain on Ukraine's infrastructure and its personnel since the full-scale invasion began.
According to Oleksiy Kucher, 'yesterday, two maintenance workers simply died from wild overexertion.'
This situation underscores the severe challenges faced by energy sector workers operating under emergency circumstances.
A Dire Warning for the Energy Sector
The current crisis serves as a dire warning about working conditions within Ukraine's energy sector. The immense strain, caused by war and extreme weather, threatens not only the health of the workers themselves but also the reliability of the capital's power supply.
The problem requires an urgent solution, as without proper working conditions, the risks will continue to escalate, potentially affecting the overall stability of the nation's entire energy system.
