Trump on corruption in Ukraine: named the reasons for problems and chances for peace.
According to ТСН: In light of the recent negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and the USA in Miami, President Donald Trump expressed his opinion regarding the situation in Ukraine. He pointed to corruption as a serious factor complicating the situation, while also showing optimism about the possibility of a peaceful resolution.
President's comment
Trump shared his thoughts during a conversation with journalists. He confirmed that he had talks with the meeting participants, Rubio and Witkoff, and positively assessed their work. However, he noted that Ukraine is facing certain internal difficulties.
“Ukraine has some difficult problems, but I think Russia would like it to end, and I think Ukraine, I know Ukraine would like it to end,” Trump said.
When asked about the nature of these problems, the US president emphasized corruption:
“A small corruption situation that is not helpful.”
“But I think there is a good chance that we can make (a peace - ed.) deal,” Trump added.
This statement came right after the negotiations in Miami, where representatives of the USA and Ukraine discussed issues of peacefully resolving the conflict.
Assessment of negotiations
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously positively assessed the dialogue in Miami, calling it 'very productive and useful session.'
Trump's and Rubio's statements indicate the desire of both sides to find effective solutions for stabilizing the situation in Ukraine. This underscores the importance of international support in the process of establishing peace and overcoming corruption challenges. It is important that the next steps in the negotiation process become a real contribution to achieving a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
