China and Brazil are Creating the "Friends of Peace" Platform to Resolve the Ukrainian Crisis

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced China's, Brazil's, and other like-minded Global South countries' intention to create the "Friends of Peace" platform to resolve the "Ukrainian crisis." Effectively, China and Brazil are creating an alternative track to the Ukraine-centric one, which is engaged in further preparation for the global Peace Summit.

This was reported by political scientist and head of the Center for Analysis and Strategies Ihor Chalenko on the FREEDOM TV channel.

"It is precisely in this key that this initiative should be considered. That is, it is another attempt to blur those peace steps and processes initiated by Ukraine, where Ukraine is trying to gather the entire world community to directly influence the Russian aggressor and come to an adequate, fair conclusion to this war," the political scientist noted.

According to him, it is quite understandable why China is the initiator of this platform. It is merely a continuation of the rivalry with the Western world. It is not entirely clear why this plan was supported by Brazil, South Africa, Hungary, or even Switzerland.

"In the proposals voiced by the Chinese side, there was no mention of the UN Charter or the need to support Ukraine's territorial integrity," Chalenko emphasized.

At the same Time, the political scientist is convinced: China will continue to compete with Ukraine on this track. However, Ukraine should not interrupt attempts at communication with the country that has real influence on the Russian Federation.

"There is indeed geopolitical rivalry going on right now. But for Ukraine, the main thing now is to use all possible tools to bring the war to an end. I believe that the meeting between the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Wang Yi will help to move closer to this goal, as well as a possible meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Xi Jinping. Therefore, it is still necessary to fight in this direction," Ihor Chalenko summarized.
