Expert warns: how dangerous it is to warm up in the cold and why alcohol does not warm you up.
Expert Safety Warning
According to TSN.ua: Safety expert Denis Mykhailchenko warns Ukrainians about dangerous heating methods in cold conditions, particularly the risks of using gas appliances and consuming alcohol. According to him, a room temperature of +14 degrees is a signal for active actions, as this is a dangerous temperature that should prompt people to act.
Mykhailchenko emphasizes that using a turned-on gas oven or burners for heating is dangerous. This can lead to serious consequences, so the expert advises against such practices. Closing ventilation openings to preserve heat can also worsen well-being, as it leads to a lack of fresh air.
Alcohol Consumption and Its Consequences
Furthermore, the expert underscores that consuming alcohol does not warm you up; on the contrary, it contributes to heat loss.
“Alcohol does not warm you up. Blood vessels expand, and through them, our body, on the contrary, intensely loses precious heat.” - Denis MykhailchenkoHe also warns that sweat cools down very quickly, and a person can freeze even faster.
Therefore, in cold weather conditions, it is important to follow safety rules and avoid dangerous heating methods to not put oneself at risk.
In light of the current winter conditions and energy situation in Ukraine, the expert's advice is particularly relevant. Despite the desire to keep homes warm, it is essential to remember the potential dangers that may threaten health and life. Taking safety measures can help reduce the risk of accidents during the cold season.
