According to ТСН: Leaders of the European Union have decided to provide Ukraine with financial support amounting to 90 billion euros for 2026-2027. This was confirmed by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

Costa reported on social media X that the decision has already been made and its implementation will begin soon. He emphasized: 'we have made commitments - and we have fulfilled them'.

Funding and Repayment Conditions

The money will be provided as a zero-interest loan to cover Ukraine's military and budgetary needs over the next two years. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz noted that these funds will be sufficient to cover essential expenditures in 2026-2027.

Importantly, frozen Russian assets will remain under arrest, and Ukraine will start repaying the loan only after receiving reparations from Russia, if such payments are made.

This decision has become an important outcome of the EU summit, where the possibility of using frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine and ways to attract these funds in the future were also discussed.

Thus, the new funding underscores the support of the European Union for Ukraine during a difficult time. The implementation of these measures will be an important step in restoring the Ukrainian economy and ensuring stability in the region. This loan may also facilitate the implementation of crucial reforms in Ukraine, which, in turn, will help strengthen confidence in the country and contribute to its integration into European structures.
