Fedorov announced the introduction of AI in 'Diia': what the new assistant will be able to do.
Diia Portal Update: Artificial Intelligence and the Future
The Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced a significant update to the state portal Diia. Beta testing of the built-in artificial intelligence will begin in June this year, which will significantly expand the service's functionality.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Digital Transformation has rethought the entire approach to the development of Diia, taking into account modern trends in the field of artificial intelligence.
"We have rethought what we do with Diia. In 2019–2020 we made a leap and created a sexy application in terms of UX/UI where services can be quickly obtained. But now AI has changed consumer culture. Anything that does not resemble ChatGPT, Gemini, or other models provokes thoughts on how to use it. To create the best user experience, we need to transform Diia into an AI product"– noted Mykhailo Fedorov during his speech.
The first version of the AI assistant will go live on the Diia portal next month. Users will be able to ask questions in text format and receive information on necessary services, documents, or the nearest administrative service centers.
In the future, the functionality of the assistant is planned to be expanded. The artificial intelligence will be able not only to provide information but also to guide the user through the entire process of obtaining a service. It will be enough to describe your life situation, for example, "A rocket hit my house", and the system will automatically suggest the appropriate service – eRecovery, advise what photos need to be uploaded, and submit an application to the relevant commission.
A promising direction for the development of the AI assistant is voice interaction, which will allow communication with Diia as naturally as with modern artificial intelligence models that have already become familiar to many Ukrainians.
Earlier, Ukrainians were returned a key service on the Diia portal.
The updated Diia portal promises a revolution in the provision of civil services, using artificial intelligence to facilitate access to necessary information and services. The expanded functionality and the possibility of voice interaction confirm the growing digital transformation in Ukraine.
