The Hero of Ukraine talked about how he performed a feat in the presence of Zaluzhnyi.

A native of Poltava region, Ivan Chornyi received the title of Hero of Ukraine at the age of 24. President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded him the Order of 'Golden Star', and the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi personally congratulated Chornyi in a video greeting. Ivan Chornyi talked about his feat near Avdiivka Coke Plant in an interview for 'Radio Svoboda'.

At that Time, there was one of the largest assaults on Avdiivka. About fifty units of equipment arrived. We managed to defend our position, but the minefield needed to be restored. The problem was that many enemies had scattered into the craters. They were firing at us, so we couldn’t place the mines. Something had to be done

Ivan Chornyi suggested to the commander his idea - to use drones to distract the occupiers and eliminate them. His plan was as follows: while the drones distracted four enemy fighters, Ivan himself penetrated their positions and eliminated three, while his comrade threw a grenade, killing the fourth.

One of these enemies was a sniper, and Ivan took his Dragunov sniper rifle

After this operation, the fighters mined the road, which boosted their morale. It turned out that recordings from the drone, showing the actions of Ivan Chornyi, were presented at the General Staff. Valerii Zaluzhnyi reviewed these recordings and decided to award Chornyi with the highest state award, as well as to thank him in a video.

During this operation, Ivan Chornyi and his comrade also managed to capture five enemy prisoners.

Let us remind that in November, President Volodymyr Zelensky handed out certificates for receiving apartments to the Heroes of Ukraine and families of fallen warriors. The President also signed a decree on providing housing to individuals who received the title of Hero of Ukraine.
