A child died while cutting down a tree in Transcarpathia: a man was detained.
According to ТСН: A tragic incident occurred in the village of Vinokiv, Transcarpathia, where an 8-year-old girl died as a result of a falling tree. The incident took place on the afternoon of January 5.
According to the police of the Transcarpathian region, around 3:30 PM, medics reported the child's death - she had died before the arrival of the ambulance. Investigators promptly went to the scene.
Circumstances of the tragedy
It was revealed that the girl died as a result of an accident when a tree cut down by a family acquaintance fell on her near their home. At that moment, she was playing nearby while her mother was at home. The injuries were fatal, and the child died on the spot.
Measures taken
The police detained a 60-year-old man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and he was placed in a temporary detention facility. Information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (manslaughter due to negligence). Investigations are also underway into possible malicious failure to fulfill duties concerning the care of a child under part 1 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, on that day, icy waters in Ukraine claimed several more lives: during the day, they caused the deaths of four people, including a child.
The tragic events that unfolded in Vinokiv remind us of the fragility of life and the importance of safety regulations, especially when it comes to children. Authorities will continue investigating these incidents to ensure accountability and prevent future tragedies.
