Israel Launches Ground Offensive in Southern Lebanon Targeting Hezbollah Infrastructure.
Escalation Between Israel and Lebanon: Latest Developments
According to TSN.ua: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated operations against the terrorist group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, including ground maneuvers and strikes on the group's infrastructure. On February 28, Israel carried out preemptive attacks on sites in Iran and Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. A state of emergency has been declared across the country as a result of these actions.
The campaign aims to dismantle Hezbollah's military infrastructure and could mark the largest incursion since 2006. According to military leadership:
'In recent days, troops from the IDF's 91st Division have launched limited and targeted ground operations against key Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon. Their objective is to strengthen the forward defense line of the IDF.'
In response to Israel's actions, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares condemned the attacks on Lebanon. He stressed that 'Lebanon's territorial integrity must be preserved' and warned Israel that a ground invasion of the country would be a 'terrible mistake.' Albares also stated that Spain 'condemns Israel's massive attacks on Lebanon' and 'firmly condemns Hezbollah's strikes on Israel.'
International Reaction and Consequences
The situation in southern Lebanon remains tense, with the international community closely monitoring developments. Israel's escalating military activity threatens regional stability and could spark new conflicts. Notably, global actors—particularly European nations—have expressed concern over the escalation, urging dialogue to prevent further violence.
