Heating Bill Adjustments

According to Novyny.live: Residents of Kyiv who are served by the company 'Euro-Reconstruction' will see their January heating bills recalculated due to inflated charges caused by interruptions in heat supply. The revision will be processed automatically, so customers do not need to contact the provider. Consumers will be able to view the updated amounts during the non-heating season.

Compensation and Regulations

According to available data, total compensation to consumers has exceeded 720 million Ukrainian hryvnias, with charges reduced by an average of 40%. These adjustments are governed by resolutions No. 118 and No. 683, which establish rules for utility billing during emergencies.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that Ukrainians should not pay for services not rendered, stating:

“If a service was not provided in winter, there should be no charges, and the bills should show zeros.” - Yulia Svyrydenko

Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba has been tasked with reviewing the validity of the January charges. These measures aim to ensure fair treatment for consumers who faced challenges in receiving heat during the cold period.

Ensuring fair utility billing is a critical step amid emergency situations caused by heat supply disruptions. The automatic recalculation of bills will help reduce the financial burden on consumers affected by the lack of service. This also highlights the importance of monitoring utility quality and holding providers accountable to their customers.
