Kyivpastrans canceled the tender for 40 trolleybuses: reasons for the decision.
According to inkorr.com: Kyiv residents will not see new trolleybuses on the streets of the city for now. The municipal enterprise «Kyivpastrans» canceled the tender for the purchase of 40 low-floor trolleybuses, the total cost of which exceeds 1 billion UAH (25.2 million UAH per unit). This information was published in the Prozorro system. Liga.net reported the details of the cancellation.
Why the tender for new trolleybuses was canceled
The cancellation protocol states that the head of the fleet maintenance and transport infrastructure service informed on October 10 about the need to make changes to the technical requirements of the tender documentation, which will affect the expected purchase price. Since it is impossible to change the amount during the bidding process in Prozorro, Kyivpastrans was forced to completely halt the procedure.
The publication «Passenger Transport» points out that the initial price of the tender was 20–25% higher compared to similar trolleybus purchases with autonomous running in Mykolaiv, Kremenchuk or Ivano-Frankivsk. This could also have influenced the decision to cancel.
How many trolleybuses are operating in Kyiv in 2025
Currently, between 240 and 255 trolleybuses are running daily on the streets of Kyiv, including:
- 142 two-section models «Bogdan-T901»;
- 115 single «Bogdan-T701».
A new procurement may be approved after reviewing the technical requirements and the cost of the vehicles. This resolution is crucial for improving the state of public transport in the capital.
