Kyiv without light and heat: emergency outages continue due to strikes on energy.
Kyiv without light and heat
According to TSN.ua: Emergency outages are ongoing due to strikes on energy. As of the evening of January 13, 2023, emergency electricity outages continue in the capital of Ukraine. The schedules for power outages do not apply as the Russian Federation struck at the energy sector from early morning. As a result of the attacks, energy facilities have suffered significant damage, leading to substantial disruptions in electricity supply.
The situation in Kyiv
Emergency electricity outages cover not only Kyiv but also the Brovary and Boryspil districts of the region. A total of 629 crews from the DTEK company are working round the clock to restore electricity supply. Meanwhile, over 700 houses in Kyiv have been without heating for four days.
“We are struggling and we are very tired. But the work does not stop for a moment. The light holds.”
DTEK representatives
The situation in the city remains complicated, and residents are waiting for the restoration of energy infrastructure and a return to normal life.
These events highlight the vulnerability of Ukraine's energy infrastructure in the context of armed conflict. Attacks on energy facilities have a significant impact not only on the provision of electricity but also on the livelihood of the population, as in many cases the lack of light leads to heating problems, especially during the winter season. Restoring energy networks is critically important for returning to a normal mode of life in the capital and surrounding areas.
